Final Thoughts

This is my final reflection for the newsletter; there is sadness in the writing of it.  As I go through this last week of ministry with all you good folk I am thinking about and remembering the 6 ½ years that we have spent in ministry together.  They have been challenging, difficult, wonderful, gracious, funny, sad, and very human.  I am so grateful for them.

Being a minister is a privilege, one that I have tried never to take for granted.  Being trusted with the intimate moments of your lives: birth, baptism, confirmation, renewal of faith, marriage, counselling, praying, death and funerals, is a privilege that keeps me humble.  Thank you for your trust in me.

Leading worship, offering prayers and devotions at meetings, saying grace every Tuesday at the Community Lunch, being asked to be the official pray-er at public events, being a channel for God’s presence when people gather.  Another humbling example of trust.

Offering my thoughts and perspectives at Council and Team meetings, preaching to the best of my ability each Sunday, guiding couples through marriage preparation, parents through baptism preparation, and families through funeral preparation…. humbling.  And the list goes on.

Although there have been difficult and trying days from time to time, I can honestly say that I have never regretted becoming a minister.  It has been a privilege, so ….

Thank you from the bottom of my heart!
