Grocery Script
Zion-Memorial United Church is selling grocery scrip that is, gift card/certificates, issued by the two large grocery stores in Carleton Place.
The stores sell the grocery scrip to the Church at a small discount and the Church sells the grocery scrip to members at face value.
Members pay no more for their groceries while the Church earns the discount.
The first order of grocery scrip was was placed and received in mid-July, 2006.
The response is heartening, even though the majority of our members were "on Holiday." By the end of August, the Scrip Committee had deposited
$10,000, one quarter of the total purchase, with more being sold each week.
The scrip is offered to the congregation in the Church Hall during the Coffee Hour following Worship on Sundays, and again on Wednesdays between
10:00 am and 11:00 am. Order forms are available in the Narthex and in the Church Hall.
The Committee Members, Lorna Hooper, Rob Mitchell, Ron Roe and Marilyn Sparling are always willing to answer your questions.
